Crysis Pre-E3 2006 Preview

A first person shooter, but with a twist. Crytek showed us what they are capable of with FarCry in 2004, they are about to impress us once again. Crysis is a FPS game with a strong story and high quality graphics using the latest technological features. Thought FarCry was a bit too difficult? Crytek made Crysis slightly more easy to get into, however, it still has some stuff that will please advanced gamers. Look for Crysis in the last few months of this year. For now you can check out IGN’s Pre-E3 2006 preview and satisfy some of your curiosity.

Crysis (R) Crytek

We knew that Crytek would pull some serious technological magic for their second title and we finally had the chance to see it moving not long after the big announcement. This year’s GDC proved Crytek’s stomping ground as they unleashed one of the most unbelievable technical demos of the year. CryEngine 2 is spectacular. If you haven’t seen the demonstration of the engine yet, you really need to check it out for yourself. What’s especially stunning is that the demo shown recently was amazingly full of detail running on only DirectX 9, after seeing a short comparison video of the game’s capabilities running on DX10, we’re very excited to see more of that.

This year’s pre-E3 EA3 event down at Electronic Arts’ Redwood Shores campus provided us with another look at the game along with a chance to hear Crytek’s Cevat Yerli discuss the game and how they’re hoping the game will push past Far Cry and become one of this year’s most astounding shooters. I’d recommend keeping your fingers crossed about the 2006 release, but we’re being told that it is due out in Winter 2006.
