Spore from Maxis

It’s a bit quiet in the PC gaming world, with very little previews or news posted on gaming websites. 2007 does seem to become an interesting gaming year with a range of impressive games coming out.

One of those games is Spore, being developed by the people that brought us the Simcity and Sims games. It was shown at the previous E3 and received many positive responses. You basically play God (or nature) in this game, controlling the very early stages of life on your planet to the most advanced forms of life. Primitive creatures will reproduce, creating new creatures, advancing, and then creating complete civilizations. You are not confined to one planet. Once your civilization is advanced enough you may wish to look at other planets in your solar system. Due to it’s complexity Spore provides a nearly endless amount of gaming.

Stargate Worlds

Stargate Worlds is a massive multiplayer online game based on the popular science fiction television series “Stargate: SG-1″ and “Stargate Atlantis”. The game will be using the famous Unreal® Engine 3 technology that brought us many realistic, and good looking games. If I am not mistaken this will be the first online game using the Unreal Engine 3 technology. The screenshots look fantastic, especially when you realize that they are from an online game. The game promises a great gaming experience for both Stargate fans and regular gamers. Cheyenne Mountain Entertainment has access to many tools and technologies to develop a unique online gaming experience. In an interview, the developer mentions a more advanced artificial intelligence structure than you see in other online games. Monsters will take cover and hide, or run away depending on how big your gun is. Combat will be an important element of the game but not dominate it, which is in-line with the TV series. Stargate Worlds is expected to be available to the public in 2007.
